Conference time

Break out the milestones label! We had our first parent teacher conference today. All and all not very exciting. We caught up with C's lead teacher, laughed about the goofy stuff she does, and confirmed she's on track. It is always nice to hear your kid's on track though.

From the written report we got, under "What we appreciate about your child"
We love being able to goof around with Charlotte and see her silly side.  Charlotte is very smart. She understands more than she lets on, and we love when she lets us see the connections she's been making!

Way to go little c :o)

I was planning on posting this as "c learns how big her head is", but turns out she pulls it off!

Fort!

It's been a rough week at the Provans. I'm still fighting a cold that I first came down with the week before Christmas. C got it pretty bad during the week and was send home from daycare Friday, and Alex is barely upright today. Needless to say, Netflix classic Disney has been used more than I'd care to admit over the last couple of days. So this afternoon when C and I were upright at the same time, I took the opportunity to turn off the TV, and turn on some imaginative play. A sheet and a coffee table later, we had a fort!

Max wasn't allowed in...

So he went and found a hiding place of his own
Ha - my fort has a view.I win.

Towers

C has been interested in blocks for a while, but recently it's really taking off. Especially her ability to build.  I was across the room today when I turned around to find this - created all on her own. My little engineer at work :o)

Holidays Part the rest

Sorry folks, I've run out of steam. We had an amazing trip to Utah and a wonderful holiday. Thank you to Norm and Jean for capturing some of the highlights:

15 month stats

C's first 15 month appointment was canceled due to winter storm Draco (since when do they name winter storms anyway??), so we didn't get in until a couple of days ago. Regardless of the delay, C is great. 31" (58%), 23 lbs (67%) and a big old head (she's 91% there). Verbal communication is coming right along, and the Doc says all other development is right on track. Hurray!

Then the nurse came back in and gave C two shots. No wonder she hates the doctor's office...

Trying Something new

One of the unexpected things about changing jobs was a dramatic change in the amount of time my butt spends in a chair each day. As a Foundations training I was teaching class, 70% of the time, so I was on my feet, moving around, helping people 70% of the time.  As an eLearning trainer I don't do the classroom stuff anymore, so much more time is spent on the tush.

Well not anymore! After reading up on the subject (here's a good article), I decided to create myself a standing desk. One $20 shelf and some rearrangement of existing supplies later, I'm able to work while standing with good posture.

I'm going to keep the setup for 2 weeks and re-evaluate. Day one went well - I'll keep you guys posted :o)

Holidays Part 2

Next in the chain of events was a party for my team at work. The great thing about my new team is that we all have kids (oldest is 4, youngest is 9 months). It is so nice to come in after a bad night an KNOW that they all understand what you're going through. Anyway, I had the whole gang over for bunch, we had a great time (unfortunately not photographed), max was a huge hit (and a saint), and everyone went home happy.

Especially fun, the chairs stayed set up in the living room for a while, providing C a fun place to play. She's huge!

Holidays Part 1

You all knew it was bound to happen. Life gets busy, and the blog is the first to go. Mea culpa.

Last year I had a goal of updating the blog at least once a week - I ended up with 59 posts in 52 weeks. Woohoo! Let's go for 60 posts this year, and I'll start with a recap of holidays:

We started by getting the decorations ready

We went for a small fake tree this year since we were going to be in Utah for the week of Christmas, and it also allowed things to be out of range of little C. Didn't mean she didn't get to help though...

Shortly after decorations went up, Channukah was upon us! We were really lucky to get to celebrate with Grammy and Grammy Sue, and to get great, home made cold house gear!
