Thursday: We come home with a hand written note from c's teach on the back of one of her pieces of art work that says:
"I absolutely adore [c] and having her in my class. She is a beam of light and keeps my rough boys tame. For that alone, I love her."
Friday: We find out that c's being bumped up to the new room in school (with a new teacher), starting on Monday.
And so it goes...

Thursday night soul
Sin City Soul played the last Thursday night concert of the summer tonight. While I can't even begin to wrap my head around the fact that it's basically September, we didn't have to tonight. It was beautiful...
....and the peaches are still good out here...
...and the girls got to dance with dada to REALLY fun music all night.
doesn't get much better than that on a Thursday!

Smokey Mountain
Sunday morning Norm and Jean were kind enough to watch the girls, so Alex and I could go for a hike. We picked a route that was about 2 miles in, which seems like a pretty reasonable until we saw the 1,400 vertical feet that we'd cover over those 2 miles.
Good think we paused at time to take in the neat views along the way...
It was pretty shocking to see just how much the views were obscured though. There have been fires in Washington/Idaho and we've been getting the smoke our way. As the result, you see more grey than mountain at the summit:
For reference, here's the same summit a couple weeks back:
A good reminder we're all connected huh?
Good thing it was still clear enough for a selfie - I get my excellent taste in hats from my dad :o)

Dentist
So I know that no one with kids from Park City reads this blog, but I was so impressed by our dentist visit this week that I'm going to blog about it anyway and file it under milestones since it was m's first visit :o) This place was awesome:
http://pcdentalkids.com/
Short story: Taking kids to kid specific practices is TOTALLY worth it
Long story: We walked in and had our choices of watching beauty and the beast, the fish, playing with stuffed animals, legos, beads, or a million other toys. The exam rooms each had TVs right over the chair, and the dentist sang along to frozen while doing his exam. C loved it and was a great sport. M was a big fan of everything up to her turn. The dentist was awesome though and had a great plan for me holding her while she laid across our laps and he did what he needed to do in her mouth as quickly as possible.
Both girls got their teeth cleaned, polished, florided, and clean bills of health. Bonus news - apparently we're not concerned that m has an odd number of teeth on the bottom until she's 4 or so - woohoo.

Peter and the wolf
Yesterday we called Saba via facetime and interrupted him practicing bassoon. He gave us a quick demo including a couple of bars from Peter and the Wolf. Turns out we had never watched that classic!
We decided to fix that quick while I finished getting dinner together. The girls loved it, especially the grandfather part.

Tour of Utah
This weekend was the annual Tour of Utah bike race. Turns out it goes right through the ranch where Norm and Jean live, so we were lucky enough to get invited to a viewing party! Not only did we get to see some awesome bike riding action...
the girls also got some great cousin time! Or maybe second cousin time? I can never remember how it works. Either way, they had fun with Jean's sister's daughter's boys :o)

Moon shaddow
This weekend triple m was up for an early early walk. On the way home we saw both the sun,
and the moon, and cool shadows. Max looks almost as leggy as Tellus!

Mirror Lake
Yesterday was a whirlwind of cleaning and running around and not so much fun. So today we decided to salvage the weekend by heading up to mirror lake.
We actually stopped about 3 miles shy at lost lake, and I'm so glad we did. It was a beautiful spot for lunch.
exploring the shoreline
discovering nature's tetter-totters
and being AMAZINGLY cute sisters
these two kill me :o)
The view on the way home wasn't bad either
Yay summery and yay Utah :o)
