A big day

Yesterday was a big day for all the madcity Provans...

I had my first meeting with a new manager at work and it went really well. I'm looking forward to working with her. I also learned that I will probably be getting a new team member so that will be an interesting new challenge.

Alex got his first job offer from this years job search. They're in the negotiation stage now, but regardless of what happens it still felt good to get an offer :)

And finally little C had her weight check! She weighed in at 12 lbs 9 oz and is officially off the watch list since that bumps her back up to the 15th percentile. Means we might start solids this weekend. What fun!

Finally the weekend!

Well I'm going to make my one post a week goal this week, but just barely. For the Android/iPhone/iPad users out there - let's connect on Path, I'm better about getting stuff up there during the week.

We had a busy week here in Madison. I had three days of customer training, so I put in the most hours I have since being back. Most days I was at work by 730, then raced home right at 5:00 so I could be with C, then I logged back in after C went to bed for a hour or so. It's hard, but so worth it to have 530-730 as uninterrupted family time. It's by far my favorite part of the day.

On Thursday we switched it up a little. Jean came, an Alex and I went to out to dinner and to the Eric Church concerns at the coliseum. It was amazing, and way fun, but Friday at work was terrible. Looking back I definitely should have taken the day off. But we all survived and now we're very happily enjoying the weekend. Caroline and Chris are coming to join the festivities later today. It will be a party for dinner tonight :)

C says happy weekend, and look at me getting good at sitting in my high chair so I can start solids soon!

Officially a peanut

Who would have thought that someone with 50% Zimet genes would ever have a problem with being UNDER weight??? C had her four month appointment this morning and while she's average for head circumference and height, she's 9th percentile for weight. All 11 lbs 14 oz of her. Doc suspects some of it might be reduced eating due to the cold she's just starting to kick, so before we do anything drastic (like starting to wake her up at night again to eat) we're going to go back in again in a couple of weeks to be weighed again. Overall it wasn't a bad visit (C did great with the shots), but I had kinda hoped weight issues were a thing of the past. Then again, if that's the toughest thing we have to deal with - life's not bad. Especially for the last 48 hours her bottles have all ended up like this:

In other news, she's still as cute as ever. And she's figured out that Mr Aardvark is fun to nom on.

P.S. Happy 100th post on MadCity Provans!

Laughing!

I realize that the post title might be a bit of a tease since I don't actually have any video evidence to share, but C has started to laugh! I heard it for the first time this afternoon - maybe more of a chuckle then a full belly laugh right now but it's SUPER cute. I'll try to get it on video as soon as a can.  In the meanwhile - a super cute elephant overload from this weekend:

Random Thursday ramblings

I'm too tired to put together a coherent post, so here's the quick rundown.
-C is sick. Like downing in her own snot sick. It's so sad to watch. Hoping she'll start getting better soon.
-My mini is like a monster truck in the snow. After driving cars that were terrible in the snow for so long it's awesome to have one that's not. Now that winter finally decided to show up I'm even happier I ended up with my mini.
-there's hope for my volleyball game yet. We had a great match tonight and I'm starting to feel just a little but like my old self :)

Time for bed. Here's a picture of poor sick C to tie you over until I can get something more substantial together

Sleep update

We're still not.

Ok that's a bit of an exaggeration, but we're definitely still not back to where we were as far as sleep goes. Thursday seemed to be the worst of the crazy, so hopefully we're on the up swing.

I teach my first customer class since being back tomorrow. I'm actually nervous, both about remembering content, and about working in pumping. Wish me luck!

She's still pretty cute huh?

Who needs sleep

So I'm a little sad to say that C seems to be smack dab in the middle of sleep regression. Gone are the days when she reliably woke up once a night to nurse and that was it. Lately it's been more like 5 wakings a night - a couple nursing sessions and then a couple where she's just fussing and needs her pacifier. Desperate to find something to help we decided to try swaddling her with her arms out last night. An I can report that it wasn't any worse. No better unfortunately, but no worse either. I think well continue for a couple more nights before we go back to true swaddling, because if she'd suck on her fingers instead of needing us to give her a pacifier we'd all get a lot more sleep.

In related news, I'm addicted to caffeine again. Bummer.

Happy New Year!

Happy 2012 everyone :o) New year = new design here on Mad City Provans (I was getting bored with the old look). Let me know if you have any trouble with reading the green on green.

Last night was pretty tame here, but we had a great night of talking. We tried to come up with our top three moments of 2011, and couldn't. It made me feel so incredibly lucky to have had such an amazing year.

We also spent some time talking about new years resolutions. To keep me accountable I'm making my top three public:
  1. Get back into my pre-pregency jeans. Notice I'm not saying anything about lose x number of lbs, because I really don't care what I weigh. What I do care about is feeling good and I liked the way I felt when I was wearing those jeans that are still in storage.
  2. Post here at least once a week. Since we've already failed big time at filling out C's baby book, I really want to make sure I'm capturing life on this blog so we can all look back and see how she's grown.
  3. Stay under budget 10 out of 12 months this year. Mint.com will be our friend. Enough said :o)
Plan is to check back quarterly to see how they're going.  Here we go!
