Poor max

I think he might be starting to figure out that something's going on that's not about him. His new strategy - find a spot when we can't help but include him :o)

Nursery progress!

Let me start by saying thank you. THANK YOU to Mom and Sue who put a ton of time into figuring out the best way to stencil decorations on a nursery wall and mom for making curtains. THANK YOU to Rachel who in true big sister fashion took me under her wing and helped me brave babies 'r us and painted some awesome elephants to boot. Thank you to everyone that's been supporting me over the last 8 months - you guys are all awesome.

Phew...

Now with the said, we've made some nursery progress :o) What was a crib in front of a bare window, is now a crib in front of a super cute window, complete with room darkening shades and the cutest curtains ever.

And perhaps most impressive, what used to be a plain off white wall, is now clearly a nursery wall:

There are also happy butterflies and dragonflies stenciled on various other walls, and a very loving aardvark if you know where to look. All in all it was an amazing weekend with Rachel and Chad and I feel great about the progress that was made. Hard work for sure, but the boys seem to approve :o)

It's starting to feel like we might actually be ready to have this baby...

36 week bump

as seen by a professional :o)

The weekend of many pictures

and yet I'm not including a single one on this post :o)

Dad and Melanie are heading back east after an awesome visit. Went out to eat Friday night, had adventures at the farmer's market in the pouring rain, and cooked rainbow trout for the first time Saturday night., In between all the excitement Dad tried his best to indulge my request for a picture of Max and belly. 100 shots later (including a GREAT picture of Max rolling his eyes - I'm not kidding), I think we got one good one. I'll post it when I get a copy.

This evening we did a maternity session with the photographer we're going to use for newborn shots. I was a little apprehensive since we hadn't met in person before but she was wonderful and stayed for well over an hour taking lots of shots of me, Alex, and belly. She's promised to post a couple tonight on her facebook page (search facebook for KaitlinSheran Photography), and then I'll get full digital rights once she's done processing the rest so many more shots to come.

Hard to believe that we'll see her again for newborn shots in about a month!

It's getting closer...

Things have started to happen lately that have made me stop and think WOW this baby is coming soon. For example, this I just meet with payroll at work and talked about FLMA leave. Apparently my hording of vacation/sick leave is going to serve me well - I'll actually be getting a paycheck for some of my time off! Not a full paycheck mind you, but better then doing the 7 weeks that short term disability doesn't cover unpaid :o) Who knew it was possible to be so excited for an event that you don't really know when it will occur...

Let there be furniture...

...and bad photography.  Have you ever noticed how hard it is to take pictures of the inside of a room?

Anyway, we got the baby furniture put together! Now in what used to be our office we have a glider and a crib:

And a dresser/changing table.

The nursery's starting to come together which has triggered some serious nesting instinct. I'm not sure why I made Alex wash the baby clothes before the clothing that we'll actually wear this week, but it seemed important at the time. Time to go fold....

Photo updates

It's been a little crazy around here with work stuff, but 33 weeks in we have managed to make some progress preparing for September.

See, we have a fully assembled crib:

And a not so fully assembled changing table:

(okay maybe that's less impressive). We also bought our first couple of cloth diapers:

Yes, I know the diaper above is hardly the gender neutral colors that I told everyone I was sticking too, but look how cute it is! It's hard to imagine that our baby will ever be big enough to fit into it, but then again looking down, maybe not :o)
