A girl and her dog

Generally I try to include pictures in every post, but this story is cute enough I think it does an okay job of standing on its own...
Scene: Monday morning. Alex is traveling for work again. It's the first Monday of the month so max has to go to the kennel so the house cleaners can come, and it's -10 degrees outside so leaving either of the little ones in the car while I drop off the other one isn't an option.
I decided the easiest way to pull the morning off would be to load everyone in the car, and bring c in when I dropped off max. Unfortunately, I didn't think about the fact that c had never been to a kennel before. Nor would she understand what was going on when I handed max's leash to the nice lady, and then max went through one door when we walked back through the other. By the time we were back in the car c was good and crying, and all I could get out of her as to why was that she loved max.
She had calmed down a bit by the time we got to daycare. But you could tell she was still upset about the whole ordeal, and didn't quite believe me when I told her max would be home after school.
When I picked her up the teacher's shared that she had been taking about max all day. We got home, she went straight to his kennel to say hi, and for the first time ever max got the question "what you do today?"
The girl has good taste in best friends, what can I say :o)

A good email day

I get a ton of garbage in my inbox in any given day, but today was fantastic. First, we heard the AWESOME news that baby a got into the infant room at daycare.
I am writing you to offer you a spot in our Bear Cub House for your infant that is due May 29. The first day of the program is Tuesday, September 2.  This is a full time spot.
It's such a huge relief that we're going to be able have both kiddos going to the same school. Check one thing off the list.

And if that wasn't good enough, I also got an appointment reminder for a prenatal massage I had forgotten I scheduled. Happy Wednesday  :o)

Visit from Saba

This weekend Saba dropped in on his way from the west coast back to the east coast. Turned out to be fantastic timing because he arrived just in time for "show week" at C's gymnastics. Not only did C get the chance to drag him all around the gym (for the record he still totally has "forward roll" down), but he was also witness to what I'm sure will be the first of many participation trophies.

For the record, she totally understood that the ribbon was something neat to get. And clung to it for dear life for the rest of the session.

Once home it was a weekend full of much silliness.

C was a fan, to say the least :o)

Helper

Well I finally got smart about at least something :o)

Tonight we had falafel for dinner. That itself is not so impressive. What's more impressive is that I actually figured out how to make week night dinner prep a fun Mom & C weekend activity.

Rinsing the chickpeas was probably her favorite part, but using the food processor and getting our hands dirty shaping the balls were also hits. Bonus is that I have another dinner's worth down in the deep freezer ready to go.  Now to hunt up a few more recipes that are this much fun.

Hanging with the big kids

Yesterday was a big day for our dear little C. Beyond the usual Saturday gymnastics we had TWO parties to attend.

First up was Rochelle and Josh's oldest's 5th birthday party. Not surprisingly, the group was mostly comprised of 5 year olds, and was held at "pump it up" (a warehouse filled with giant inflatable bouncy/climbing structures). C was super shy at first and a little overwhelmed by the whole ordeal, but slowly warmed up to the idea of bouncing. One of the older siblings (I'm guessing ~10) took C under her wing, and from that point on she was off. Climbing with the other kids, sliding with the other kids, bouncing with the other kids, posing with pictures with the other kids, and then finally (pictured below), eating pizza in a glow in the dark room with the other kids. I swear if not for being short you would have never known the other kids had three years on her. Crazy stuff.

After the party a bunch of friends from my old team at work go together for dinner out. C seamlessly transitions from 5 year olds to charming 30 year olds (mostly men for the record). It was such a pleasant change from the monster she was the first half of the week.  Ahhh, the joys of two :o)

Baby A's first photo shoot

It is pretty remarkable just how clear ultrasounds have gotten. Here are a couple of my favorites from what I'm considering Baby A's first photo shoot...

I think she might have big feet like her daddy and sister :o)
