She might be tall
I wonder what it means when the first thing a baby grows out of is a pair of socks - this fake Mary jane's aren't fooling anyone anymore...

Reading
Grandma Jean is visiting and brought with her a great present for Charlotte - a book of curious George stories! It definitely has the best pictures of any book we've read her so far. Charlotte approves.

On a roll
Now maybe it was just showing off for Grandma Jean who's here to lend a hand while Alex recovers from wisdom teeth surgery, but Charlotte was super active on her playmat tonight. She rolled from her back all the way over to her side, then decided she had enough and went back to her back. We were impressed.
Gymnastics?
Gymnastics to me is like football to many parents - terrifying. Yes I know it's great for body control and coordination and all that, but still scary. Luckily only men compete in the rings which it just about all Charlotte is interested in so far :)

First smiles
I just got this video from Rachel - it was taken 10/15. Hard to watch without smiling...

Sir booger the second
When Rachel and Chad visited in august we wandered into a great little shop in downtown Madison and found great little green lovies for then unborn baby girl and Eva. Unfortunately once back in Boston Eva's creature picked up the name booger. Which mean that Charlotte's can only be Sir Booger the Second. Charlotte doesn't seem to mind the goofy name :o)

Play mat
I put together Charlotte's play mat this morning. I think it might be a little overwhelming still :o)
One month!
Happy one month birthday baby girl. About this time one month ago your dad and I were heading to the hospital, with only a vague idea of what we were getting ourselves into. Grammy was at the house with max, and the rest of the family was on high alert. Since then you've lost and gained over a pound, have learned that you have arms and legs that are fun to move, that being awake can be fun too, and that adults go nuts when you smile at them. You've charmed friends and family, and officially got your name. You've taken adventures to target and pancake cafe (which are way more fun then the pediatrician's office). Most of all you've thrived, to the delight of those who love you.
Happy one month birthday baby girl, I can't wait to see what the next month brings.

She's huge!
Great news from the ped's office today - Charlotte weighed in at 8 lbs 9 oz, 7.5 oz heavier than last week! Her goal was 7 oz, so we're very pleased, especially since we got the ok to stop waking her up at night to feed. It's amazing how fast she's growing - Today's her 4 week birthday. At least she's not too big to snuggle :o)

Officially named
We had a WONDERFUL weekend here in Madison, surrounded by friends and family for Charlotte's naming. I'll try to put together something more comprehensive later, but here's one of my favorites pictures - Charlotte and the ladies that love her :o)

Cousins
It's been a big week at the Provan house. Monday we picked up Rachel and Eva at the airport, and we've been having fun ever since!
Especially fun activities:
Our daily (or at least it feels like daily) trip to target - look closely, there are two babies in that cart!
Watching Eva fall desperately in love with Max. Max has been a great sport about being the object of an 8 month old's affection, likely because he learned quickly that she's really good at dropping food :o)

Temp. Calm
After a wonderful visit Jean headed out today, along with Caroline and Carol. This means that for the first time in a long time it's just the four of us in the house. The males and the females in the house are making different use of the quiet time :o)

Big girl
We're on a quest to plump up miss Charlotte a bit (she wasn't quite over her birth weight at her 2 week checkup). While she seems very happy to nurse what feels like every 5 minutes, she's also very busy doing things like having her umbilical cord fall off (which happened on day 16). This is especially exciting because it means we can now have fun dressing her in onesies, instead of just t-shirts:
Let the games of dress up begin!

12 days later...
If you had told me 13 days ago how much our whole world would change there's no way I would/could have believed you. But here we are, 12 days after the birth of the most amazing little girl.
The birth was slightly more exciting then we would have liked but about 12 hours after being admitted we were on our way to the postpartum floor. We luckily had TONs of support including a whirlwind visit from my dad:

Thankfully my mom had flown out on my actual due date to get the lay of the land and jumped at the opportunity to help at the hospital:
And with tummy time at home:
Caroline and Jean also made an appearance:
From where I stand as a very sleep deprived first time mom, it's clear that baby Charlotte is lucky to have so much family that loves her, and that's willing to put up with her crazy mother :o)
