Tuesday Update #5

Man there are a lot of Tuesdays in January!

Since last week C was a spider in the 1st grade musical about bugs.
She chose not to have a speaking part for this one, but definitely knew all the songs and dance moves, and clearly enjoyed being up there :)

It snowed some more but colt's enthusiasm for fetch was undeminished.

The sun finally came out Sunday, and even though it was only 30 degrees it felt so awesome to be outside M and I went up to join Alex as he waited for C to be done with Ski lessons.

Alex found an awesome chain for his new office downstairs...

...and the girls somehow found aardvark and lemur and started carrying them around again. Between those two and Colt's hedgehog I think we've officially cemented our status as the crazy people who refuse to buy teddy bears and dog bones.

At least colt will pose nicely for a picture now a days. That last one is definitely in the running for next year's holiday card.

Finally, m made a book and read it.

Happy Tuesday!

Happy happy birthday C

Hard to imagine our little C is 7! and not so little. And tenatious and kind and amazing at pretty much anything she sets her mind to. This year she requested a horse birthday with a couple of friends, and boy did the ranch deliver.

And she got a goldfish to boot :)

Big first day!

C's off to kindergarden, M's off to Peek. Both are thrilled and I'm amazed at how fast time is flying by (and how little they used to be!)

1 down, 39 to go

Big night here last night... C came home from school just a touch lighter than we was before.

This week has been one big party at school since the district school year ends on Friday, so apparently they did bobbing for apples during lunch. C went in face first and came out sans tooth. She was off the wall excited.

Biggest parenting win of the whole thing, we convienced c that the tooth fairy that services our house is very shy. So shy that she's too afraid to come close to beds, so the tooth pillow (thanks nana) must be a safe distance away. C picked an awesome ledge in the hallway, which was WAY easier to access during the night then under the pillow would have been. Now to make sure the story sticks for c's 19 other teeth and m's 20 :o)

Side note: My phone had a hardware malfunction earlier in the week (aka bootloop of death) so while I do have a mostly working temp solution, feel free to email if it feels like I'm ignoring some other mode of communication (I probably didn't get it).

Big 5!

Holy moly c is five. Which seems impossible because this was yesterday right?
Sept 2011

And if that one wasn't yesterday than this one must have been.
Sept 2012

No? This one?
Sept 2013

This one?
Almost Sept 2014

This one?
Sept 2015

Fine then. You win time. Keep marching on.

And you know what? It actually is fine. Because C - you are a amazing little girl who is so ready to be five. You are learning to write and recognize letters to start to read. You are making friends and learning to be a great playmate for m. You are always up for exploring trails and now learning to rock climb. You are my temple buddy and always up for ice cream afterwards. And you are figuring out this world and the people in it at exactly the right pace for you, which is perfect.

Happy birthday C. May every birthday bring you ice cream with sprinkles so you can experience a taste of the joy that you bring us :o)

She smiles!

So c's been in a goofy stage for a while, which means that most of the pictures we get from her are a silly smile rather than a genuine one. But all that changed when we brought out the cake last weekend...

Turns out the girl does smile...

...and it melts my heart just the way it always has

Update on Aardvark and Lemur

And it's not just that aardvark is hard to spell :o)

So I realized that I had been super slacking on lemur pictures, and while catching up,why not catch up on both ends?

C is 3 years, 10 months old. She is:
* Loving her new school
* Continuing to have large amounts of sass :o)
* Swimming! She's loves being in the water and can actually propel herself underwater for a ways.
* Living in shorts and tshirt and loving the weather out here
* Having way fun with her sister

M is 1 year, 2 months old. She is:
* Starting to love her new school
* Eating an amazing amount of food, all the time
* Obsessed with bubbles, and can actually blow them on her own
* Not quite running, but definitely picking up speed walking
* Really enjoying pool time
* Having way fun with her sister

The two of them together:
* Entertain each other during car rides
* Flight over the cozy coup car in the back yard
* Have way fun playing rolling catch and other silly games

LIfe is good :o)

The big 3 for c

Ahhhh 3. A strange little word where pasta which should be fine is totally offensive, and then the following night curry with tofu and veggies is totally okay. C is totally three.

She's doing great at daycare, clearly had a great time out in Utah, and continues to amaze with her vocabulary and physical prowess At her 3 year appointment yesterday she weighed in at almost 33 lbs and 37.8 inches, now sitting comfortably around the 65th percentile line. She LOVES m, and is actually pretty helpful around her most of the time. All things considered she handled the crazy of September pretty darn well, but I think we're all looking forward to October :o)

13 months

I've noticed that many of my friends stopped the "baby with object" pictures around a year.  I'm starting to figure out why. I was able to get one with both bottoms safely in the chair:
but of course c isn't looking anywhere near the camera.  As before I could try again we were venturing into "not so safe on a rocking chair" territory:
So going forward I'm just going to try to capture play instead of poses. Seems like more fun for all involved (except perhaps mr. aardvark).

More to come later, but just a quick birth post to mark 1 amazing year for our amazing little c (who continues to get harder to photograph

11 Months (or Poor Aardvark)

Happy 11th month birthday little c! Today we celebrated being lucky enough to know you for 11 whole months by continuing to take pictures of you with your friend Arthur the Aardvark. However, it seem that you've acquired a taste...
Now nom-noming on toys is usually not a problem, and actually might help the FOUR teeth that you're working on feel better, but it makes it hard to see your pretty face. So I interviened...

And yet, you still managed to remember that there's so much to see and do that you can't possibly hold still long enough for a picture. All 21 lbs of you (we had a follow up for your Boston ear infection today so we know you broke the 21 lb mark) is very very busy.

I finally figured out that perhaps picking the whole crew up was the way to go.
No wonder my back hurts.

Only one month to go until the big one! Until then, stay well dear aardvark.

Updates

Happy 9 month birthday to baby girl :)

Yeah i'm not sure about the aardvark game any more...

Tuesday we went to the docs for her 9 month appointment, and guess who is up to the 40th percentile at 17.9 lbs? Apparently grown up food agrees with this little one. Otherwise she's perfectly health and within all normal bounds for development. AND, the doctor found a tooth (one of the lower front ones).
