Actual date - somewhere around 12/16

Another year = another hannukah party! This year a couple of things were different...

1) I actually invited friends from temple (yay), but managed to schedule the party for the same night as the temple's hannukah party so none of them came (boo)

2) The girls were both big enough to help scrub potatoes

3) I had a super awesome necklace to wear thanks to mom and sue

4) We made both chili and lentil soup since we had too many people to feed with one or the other

 5) No one's quite sure how, but somehow C and my friend who regularly cleans up at poker nights managed to destroy everyone else at dreidle. We're pretty sure there was some funny business involved.

Miners day - Growing Tree!

So way back at the beginning of the month we celebrated Miner's day (aka Labor day).

I would just let it go, but we took growing tree pictures so we've got to get them here an posted with the rest of them.

May this growing tree have an easier winter than the last one :o)

Big first day!

C's off to kindergarden, M's off to Peek. Both are thrilled and I'm amazed at how fast time is flying by (and how little they used to be!)

Growing Tree 2.0

We did it! This weekend we did much digging and planted ourselves a brand new growing tree!

It's a blue spruce like the ones in the back, just quite a bit smaller. All the better for growing :o)

Mother nature was pleased.

Mulch Pile

One of the projects we never got around to last year was putting mulch around the new trees. So this year we got some much....

....and started to put it around the trees...

...but M hopes we don't get through the pile too quickly :o)

RIP Growing Tree 1.0

I've had a reminder on my phone for the last week to take a picture of the girls with the Growing Tree - remember the one we got as a gift for Christmas and then planted last spring as the first tree planted in the new house? Well, here's the picture:

Poor tree had a rough winter (those are weeds doing great right next to it, oh well).

Alex promised me a new growing tree for mothers day - plan is to get that planted next weekend. Hopefully second time is the charm :o)

Frosty!

Generally Utah is known for it's powder. Snow here is super light and fluffy - good for skiing, not so much for building with. However, every once in a while we get a snow storm while at 30 degrees. And then we can have some fun :o)

And for the record, here's the growing tree.

I'd say we've got some snow in our back yard.

Latkes and Librations

One big milestone for the blue house - we hosted our first more than just family party here over the break to celebrate Hanukkah! We were a small but festive bunch, and definitely put every menorah in the house to good use.

Hi there!

Long time since the last post. Since then I've been promoted without back filling my previous position (so crazy at work), had a wonderful visit from Leslie (so awesome but crazy at home), and headed into fall full swing! I'll give catching up a shot, but in the meanwhile enjoy some pictures of a wonderful Halloween at the blue house.

Most of the time the girls get along amazingly well. And usually during that time they're playing pretty evenly. But every once in a while c pulls a move that could not be more classic big sister...
