Welp. We're still sick. It's still grey. And there's still snow.
But... at least the one redeaming part of March has started... we've been watching quite a bit of basketball and turns out pretty much every game has some team who's mascot is related to "kitty"
Colt's training is going well, but his spelling still isn't very good.
And apparently at 7 it is still fun to dress up for purim, and pretty darn cool to end up in the same outfit as the rabi :)
Summary of the last week: "Why are we under attack?"
While Colt's concern on that one was the fact that I moved from one couch to another on my sick day, it can definitely be generalized to the whole family being under attack of the dreaded spring cold virus all week. Started with M, spread to C, I was down on Saturday, and Alex is still down. The silver lining is that my office actually fits a the whole crew of sick pups.
And the girls come up with creative ways to pass the time:
Part of me wondered if this was going to be the week that I didn't actually have any updates after what felt like a very long short week, but then Maggie bought m a hat (in order to bump up to free shipping - priorities people)
Colt and I decided all dogs are the right size to be lap dogs on friday nights
Last week was February break for PC schools so the girls had off. We signed C up for camp at the local rec center and M up for camp with her regular program, so both girls were running like crazy all day every day. And by Friday we looked like this.
The record should show that there's no TV on in this picture - they're both just sitting there staring off into space. Very tired girls :)
Lucky we still got in some reading to pup
And by Sunday had recovered enough to have a family ski day. Alex left early with all the gear to get a reasonable parking spot, and to have some fun adult skiing before being joined by the fam. The girls and I decided to avoid the parking mess all together and took the bus to the slopes.
Turns out buses are most fun when they're electic, you have a lollypop, and there's a rediculous view out the back of the bus window that kinda looks like it should be a picture, but it really is the unplaned view out the back of the bus. These girls are lucky that's for sure :)
And if c has her way she'll be lucky for a long time to come...
Variations on the "winter" theme for this week's update.
M's still singing
C likes to cheer M on while skiing:
For those who watch the video with sound, I feel obliged to call out that I had never met the man you hear cheering like crazy. M has been paired with his daughter (also named Sarah) all season so they had met m during drop off/pick up, but somehow we had always missed each other. I felt obliged to introduce myself after taking the video :) Turns out Sarah will be going to the same school as M next year, so we're hoping they'll stay buddies. I just love how loudly they cheered.
Since last week C was a spider in the 1st grade musical about bugs.
She chose not to have a speaking part for this one, but definitely knew all the songs and dance moves, and clearly enjoyed being up there :)
It snowed some more but colt's enthusiasm for fetch was undeminished.
The sun finally came out Sunday, and even though it was only 30 degrees it felt so awesome to be outside M and I went up to join Alex as he waited for C to be done with Ski lessons.
Alex found an awesome chain for his new office downstairs...
...and the girls somehow found aardvark and lemur and started carrying them around again. Between those two and Colt's hedgehog I think we've officially cemented our status as the crazy people who refuse to buy teddy bears and dog bones.
At least colt will pose nicely for a picture now a days. That last one is definitely in the running for next year's holiday card.
Big news from UT since last Tuesday is definitely the snow. At the end of last week we had our first real storm of the season dumping about a foot, leading to a race to build a snowman before dark...
Followed by many fun powder adventures up at the ranch over the weekend.
On Saturday night C and I had a picnic in our bedroom...
...in order to stay out of the way of our finish carpenter who worked ALL day, but finished!
We're SO excited to be able to finally finish moving in downstairs (and to get the darn dumpster out of our side yard).
C and I braved the holiday weekend crowds and managed to both park and eat breakfast before her lesson on Sunday.
And all that fun was followed up by another 18 inches of snow on Monday.
All and all an awesome couple of days, leading to some very tired pups last night :)
Happy 2019! Man how time flies - it's shocking to me that we're already starting another year. Last year was a rough one for blogging, so I'm going to try something a little different this year. Rather than shooting for a couple of posts a week, I'm going to try for Tuesday updates. 52 Tuesday updates plus a birthday post here and there is going to be a heck of a lot more content than I managed in 2018 :)
So in the last week (or two) we've...
Celebrated Christmas up at the Ranch
Had way fun with Christmas toys back home
Gone skating in Midway
Walked out of Health Catalyst for what might be the very last time (I'm starting a new job tomorrow)
And rang in the new year with a couple of glasses we got when we got enaged around this time 11 years ago :o)
Wishing everyone out there all the best for a happy and healthy 2019!
