Every girl needs a couple of friends that will smack them upside the head when they need it. Case and point - while in DC I was whining to Susan about how uncomfortable pants were. She calmly replied "well stop wearing pants". And so began the summer of dresses:
I actually wore two to work last week including the outfit above on Friday. I'm really happy that I'm going to be pregnant through the summer because I'm starting to love sundresses, a lot. And the fact that maxi dresses came back into style? The fashion gods are kind :o)
My friend Molly and I went shopping today for a wedding I'm going to in two weeks. After convincing the boutique owner that yes, I was 5 months pregnant, she finally let me try on some maternity dresses. Turns out they didn't fit at all, but they were fun to try on. I ended up with a REALLY cute normal dress, that's cut in a way I should be able to wear it when not pregnant as well. Pictures will have to wait until after its debut at the wedding. Now to find shoes.....

22 week bump and back update
In the DC post I whinned a little bit about my back - I have good news on that front. I met with a great physical therapist on Thursday and she was able to pinpoint the issue (a couple of joints not moving the way they should), and come up with a plan to fix it! I was a little scared it was going to be one of those "well, it will go away after the baby comes" things, but it sounds like that is definitely not the case. Hurray.
In other news, I think I am definitely "showing" at this point, and am starting to have fun with it:

Spring time in DC
Is awesome. And we have awesome friends there too :o)
Our weekend getaway was a wonderful. Lots of relaxing a lots of laughs. It's just too bad the boys had a terrible time:
One thing that's not so awesome - my back + a little too much walking + airplane seats. My silly back has developed a nasty little habit of spasming over the last couple of days. I've got an appointment with a PT who specializes in women's health on Thursday. Hopefully we'll be able to figure it out so I can get back to the feeling good part of the second trimester.

Last chance for light
Don't get me wrong, I am beyond excited for September, but I am starting to realize there are some things about my current life that I'm likely going to miss. Today's example, packing light:
One of the things that Alex and I have gotten really good at over the last 7 years is traveling smart. We're heading to DC in an hour or so, and what you see is what I'm bringing for the trip (a backpack and a purse, the pillow stays here). Alex will probably do it with just a backpack. That way we get there, get off the plane and onto the train, and get to Susan's without worrying about lugging around a whole mess of stuff. Are we fashionable when we travel? No. But we're agile.
It will be interesting to see how a stroller and diaper bag change things...

21 week bump
So you may have noticed a lack of pictures of me on the blog so far...
I'm not going to lie, having spent the last 10 years of my life trying to keep weight off, it's been a hard adjustment to embrace putting it on. The good news it that I think I'm almost there :o) Today I felt really good at prenatal yoga, and even let Alex take a picture when I got home:
This is especially impressive considering last week they were making a new brochure for the yoga studio so they had a professional photographer in class, and I was so traumatized I had to call Rachel to calm me down about 10 seconds after class let out.
So in short I think I'm getting over the getting bigger thing, or maybe I'm just still on high from finding out that Baby Provan is going to be Baby Girl Provan.(Yay)
