date-a-versery!

February 29, 2004 Alex and I became boyfriend and girlfriend (and for good that time). So today, February 29 2016 I'm having this to celebrate our third date-a-versery.

Now it was after a dinner of buttered noodles (since most of the crew is still on a bland diet) with just the girls (since Alex was in bed), and it's ginger ale (since we've got both the stomach bug and a chest cold in the house and I need every single ounce of immunity I can get to stay healthy), but dang nab these dates only come around every four years and I was not going to let it pass by. Happy date-a-versery love - may the next one find us just as happy, but with fewer fevers :o)

Trips

While packing Sunday the girls got a hold of a couple of backpacks. C's was known ridiculousness - the same backpack that she's been using for skiing and travel that's way too big for her. M's was new.

Because of course she picked Alex's back pack.

And of course she wanted all the straps done up and wanted to walk around just like c was doing.

Making fun

The sun came out this weekend so we felt obligated to get outside for a bit. However, there's still enough snow that the only real option for being outside is to be in the driveway. Luckily we've been a little over ambitious with the shoveling, so we're finally starting to see some ground.

And some rocks! Non-snow ground is such a novel thing right now - the girls spent at least 20 minutes simply playing with the little patch of rocks.

Don't tell us we don't know how to have a good time!

g'night

Rarely photographed... m's goodnight routine.

What do you mean it's time for bed?

Forget it, I'm out of here..

Fine. As long as I can keep my phone and I get a hug from daddy...

...and c :o)

New do

As many of you know I'm heading out of town again tomorrow for the week for work. So agenda item #1 for this weekend was to get c a new hairdo that does not require braids or bands to keep it out of her face. Sunday morning we headed to great clips, and 10 minutes later....

Now c is officially in her crazy face phase so it was a little challenging to really get a good shot, but we kept trying..

And ended up with this one :o)

Now what to do with the little one's hair....

Snoopy

Nancy and bob gave the girls a Snoopy toy for Christmas. I have a feel it's going to be one of those things that just never gets old :o)

Skate Skiing

I don't often write about my own adventures, but I'm thinking this might be the beginning of something so might as well throw it on the blog for historical purposes and tag it as a milestone :o) This weekend Jean invited me to go skate skiing with her up at the ranch as part of a US Nordic team fundraiser, and it was awesome. Not at all the same motion as skating or skiing, and a super challenging workout. And you got to be outside!

I was already asking about buying equipment at the end of the session. As fun - see the guy in the tights in this picture?

Yeah he's a gold medalist. Because if you're going to learn a new sport, it might as well be with an Olympian, right?

Puzzles

m is in a really fun stage right now where she's just starting to be able to really do puzzles on her own. She also smiles on command.

At least sorta ;)
