8 Months!

I know, I'm super late. But at least the pictures were taken on the 20th!

8 months old and m is:

  • Still smiling all the time
  • Loving solid foods, and feeds herself pretty much everything (except spoon stuff like yogurt)
  • Sleeping most nights through the night and is down to two naps at school
  • Just starting to skootch on her rear as a mode of transportation

Movin'

M is so close to crawling. She's starting to rock a bit, and can actually cover some distance, but unfortunately it's not the right way. Watch as she manages to back herself away from the camera...

C officially completed her first semester as a Funny Bug. This is about how the whole semester went :o)

Slightly less awesome

M is not a particularly snugly baby. She'll tolerate a squeeze now and then, but is generally much happier sitting on her own and being about to look and laugh with you. She generally wants nothing to do with being rocked to sleep, and hasn't for months.

And then, the dreaded Bear Cub room "January bug" hit...

I got called by daycare yesterday around noon to go pick her up. This photo was taken later in the afternoon. To daycare's credit, this was a legitimate sending her home - she was a snotty coughing mess. We're off to the doc's this morning to see if it's anything we could treat with antibiotics. Here's hoping that's the case, so we can be back to full strength awesome soon!

New ordinary

So Sunday I took another stab at an ordinary day post. We made it past 7:30 am this time, but unfortunately I got too caught up reading the old posts last night and never finished compiling. So it's going up a day late. Pretty ordinary :o)

0700: Me and m are both up. She slept through the night and woke around 6 (pretty much best case scenario. We nursed and then headed downstairs to make and eat breakfast - pancakes!

0730: The rest of the crew joins us

0800: Alex and c shovel,m's down for a nap, and I head to yoga

1100: Mommy daughter lunch date/grocery shopping! The grocery store we frequent has a pretty good hot section (a la wanna be weggies), so c and I have started grabbing lunch together before doing the shopping for the week.

1300: m supervises the chicken fajita chili as it heads to the slow cooker, while mommy tries not to make too big of a mess in the kitchen daddy just cleaned.

1400: Laundry. Oh my goodness we go through so much laundry!

1500: Snack after rest time. Hurray for greek yogurt!

1700: Alex and I have a beer as dinner finishes up. M proceeds to knock over my beer glass and it breaks, spilling beer everywhere. I scoop up the girls and head up to get changed, Alex cleans up the kitchen, and so does max. We spend the rest of the evening watching him closely for any signs of being tipsy :o)

Go pack go!

Way back in the fall someone donated a bunch of girls clothes to m's room at daycare. And being the largest girl in there at the time, m got to take home a bunch which was great. Included were two cheerleader dresses, one for the badgers and one for the packers. The badger one we kept, and was on bear for most of football season:

The packers one got sent back to daycare though, just about as soon as Alex saw it.  However.....

Daycare kept it.

And Friday was packer day, so it came back out

And it's a good thing too - she was the only baby without packer gear of her own. Since they won today, it seemed only right to share.

M says ... I have enough love to love all of the sports teams :o)

Fine Dinning

I was talking to my mom on Friday and mentioned that m's eating pretty much whatever we're eating now. Apparently that's not usual for a 7 month old (who knew!). So by special request,
here's some live footage.

Random thursday deep thoughts

Why is it that the temperature outside seems to be directly correlated to a child's willingness to cooperate in the winter time, and inversely correlated in the summer? Yesterday it was -5 when I picked the girls at daycare, and c wouldn't get in the car in the parking lot. Being three for the win.

Totally unrelated, m now as two teeth. Makes her really good at eating. Not so good at painting.

Ordinary morning

I was telling a coworker about my ordinary day posts, and realized I haven't done one in a long time. The concept: rather than focusing on the big or exciting, write about the everyday awesome so you remember it down the road.

Today's doesn't cover the whole day, but we've fallen into a pattern in the morning that has a lot of pieces in it that makes me smile.

~5:30 - m wakes up and wakes us up with cooing over the monitor. I get up, do my back exercises in the nursery while smiling at m, and max supervisor from the futon. M nurses and I wake up.

~6:00 - head down stairs, share breakfast with m. Everything she gets to try is the best thing ever, even though most mornings it's a banana or piece of my toast. Alex gets up and joins us downstairs for coffee.

~6:30 - back upstairs so I can get dressed. M camps out on our bed and plays, and is generally super happy and super distracting for me when I should be getting my rear in gear.

~7:00 - c hears the playing and comes into our room to join on the fun. But not really:
She'll usually come in and lay back down for a good 5 minutes before she wakes up enough to want to play with m. It's pretty funny to watch

From there chaos ensues to try to get c ready and all of us out the door before 7:30.

Best snow on earth

Alright one more Utah post to start out the new year :o)

Over the course of our trip somewhere between two and three feet of fresh powder snow fell up at Norm and Jean's house. As a result, there were some awesome piles to jump (or get thrown) in. C was a fan...
