Another ordinary day

Yesterday I was feeling a little sad about how long it's been since c has gotten to see her east coast (and even farther east) family. So, since hopping on a plane this morning wasn't an option, I decided to do the next best thing. Round two of an ordinary day.  If our family can't spend a real day together, we can at least virtually spend the day together.

700 - View while nursing

Hurray she slept until 7! Weekends are usually a crap shoot when it comes to sleeping, so 7 really is best case scenario. Pumping has started to become more of a challenge with all the training I've been doing, so I'm excited for a day a can just nurse. The crazy things hanging from the wall above the changing table are block letters that spell Charlotte that Grandma Jean gave C for Christmas. They've been a fun addition to the nursery.

730 - Showing sign of mobility
C has gotten to the point where she's rolling at will, but now seems content to hang out on her tummy for a while. I fear pushing up might be imminent.

800 - Really mom?
Mom, I'm not sure how that flash is supposed to help me fall asleep for my morning nap...

900
no picture, but c is finally sleeping after and hour of down for 10 minutes, screaming like a banshee after rolling onto her belly. Maybe she doesn't have this Rollin thing down after all...

1000 - Feel the burn

About to have my rear kicked at TRX class. I can feel the pain already. For those unfamiliar, it consists of 45 minutes of exercises and cardio done while holding onto those straps in some fashion. Lots of core, lots of stabilizing muscles. LOTS of soreness the next day. I can't get enough.

1100 - I leave the house for an hour...

Home from the gym in time to catch Alex and c monkeying around. Time to nurse and plan the rest of our day :)

1400 - Glamor Shot

Missed a couple of hours there while I was off getting fabulous. C has started to grab hair so I'm probably going to regret the trim instead of chop, but right now it's fun having long hair.

1530 - Power Shopper

Home after a very successful outing to Trader Joe's. C watched the world from the ergo while I picked out the makings of baby and adult food. C was a big hit with the grandma age ladies out shopping. It was kinda fun.

1600 - Chopped?

While c naps I managed to cook a chicken breast which is about to become my first attempt at meat puree since making dog treats. I also put together the crab cakes that will be the adults first course tonight.

1630  - Party Time!

Up from her nap and ready to dance! (Check out the video on Path - it's pretty funny)

1700 - Every expanding pallet

A small snack of wild game before the next round of nursing

1800 - Boys and their toys
Friday was Alex's last day at his old job. A business policy of theirs that I appreciate but will never understand is that they give employees severance when they quit. You're looking at a small chunk of his severance - a new sound system for the living room. As always, max is being helpful.

1900 - Wrapping it up

Not sure how to wrap this up other than saying that I'm pretty darn lucky that this is an ordinary day. Non-madison family - we miss you.

5 months!

Can you believe it? Our little c is already 5 months old. It's amazing how quickly time has passed, yet at the same time I forget what life was like before. I bet it involved less spit up :o)

As promised, here's the next round of aardvark pictures!

Random thursday updates

Hello world. Happy Thursday.

It's amazing how fast days go by. We've gotten into a pretty comfortable pattern of getting up, getting out of the house, getting back to the house, clean, and to bed. But within that pattern it's amazing to see how C is growing and changing.

Some new things over the last week of two:
-she's now tried sweet potatoes, avocado, and pears. Sweet potatoes are the best, avocado definitely the worst.
-she continues to LOVE having stuff in her hands, especially fabric. New this week is she's starting to pass smaller things from one hand to another.
-she's a rolling pro. Tummy time consistently ends with her rolling back to her back.
-she's aware of max. She loves watching him as he moves around the house, and she's figures out that if she reaches down when she has pear all over her hands he'll lick them clean. This one could be trouble.

I'll wrap up with another series of pictures. This one I call the beginning of a blanky addiction...

Not an exciting first

C was sent home from daycare today for the first time. It seems that the snot monster has returned and taken over our poor baby girl. Alex went home with her - we'll see what kind of shape everyone's in when I get there. Woohoo late winter - I'm ready for spring

Rolling

Little C rolled from her back from her front today, 11 days before her 5 month birthday, and we didn't see it. We found out she reached this milestone by reading the sheet that comes home from daycare with her everyday. A part of me knew that this was bound to happened with the number of hours that she spends there, but it still bites :(

So anyway, hurray for C. We'll be watching like a hawk this weekend to see if we can get it on video.

Happy almost Friday!

Yum

Since C rocked her last weigh in we got the all clear to start solids. To celebrate I whipped up a batch of sweet potato puree over then weekend. We introduced it on Saturday (video linked below), and have been doing a little every night. She keeps getting better - it's really fun to watch. Next up, avocado!

Grown up?

What is it that makes someone officially a grown up? A degree? A mortgage? A spouse or child? This week for me, it was my first watch that cost more than $40. It's a citizen Ecco-drive and it's my bonus present to myself, and I'm psyched :)
